They were a celebration of life and the wealth of essence. Today, however, many couples choose to omit the chapel and simply have a ceremony in their house or backyard with close family and friends. As the few leave the church, guests wash them with coins and grains, to supply them luck and prosperity. They subsequently change into their celebration clothes. It is also traditional to throw tiny, spherical coins into the couple’s tresses– whoever collects the most will get in charge of their finances.
